Commissions, and Boards: Diocesan Council
The Diocesan
Council develops, administers, oversees, coordinates, and evaluates
the program of the Diocese and maintains general supervision over
the Diocese's budget and financial affairs. Members must be canonically
resident in the Diocese. They should be knowledgeable about and active
in diocesan programs.
Time of
meeting
Diocesan
Council meets about ten times a year, usually on the fourth Tuesday. On
occasion the date may be changed. Phone Diocesan House, 1 877 394-5281,

Report from the October 2008 Meeting of the Diocesan Council
At a meeting of the Diocesan Council on October 21, 2008, the Council:
- Received an update on the work of the ad hoc committee on Diocesan Loan and Grant Funds. This committee will meet following today’s meeting.
Report from the September 2008 Meeting of the Diocesan Council
At a meeting of the Diocesan Council on September 23, 2008, the Council:
- Heard a report from the ad hoc committee on Diocesan Loan and Grant Funds.
- Heard a report on Migrant Ministry.
- Support the application process for New Dollars/New Partners for Sacred Places with funding of $5,000 from the operating budget in 2009.
Report from the June 2008 Meeting of the Diocesan Council
At a meeting of the Diocesan Council on June 17, 2008, the Council:
- Approved a grant in the amount of $3,000 for the Diocesan Choir Camp.
- Endorsed a bridge loan from the Capital & Revolving Fund to St. Stephen’s, Beverly.
- Endorsed a grant from the Capital & Revolving Fund to St. Alban’s, New Brunswick.
- Approved an amendment to the Atlantic City Mission Board budget.
- Approved additional funding from the sales proceeds of Church of Our Saviour, Camden and Holy Trinity Church, Delair, to St. Paul’s, Camden.
Report from the May 2008 Meeting of the Diocesan Council
At a meeting of the Diocesan Council on May 20, 2008, the Council:
- Approved the Atlantic City Mission Board budget for 2008.
- Approved the request for $13,040 for the Episcopal Partners in Ministry of Cape May County from the Harriet Procter Matthews Fund.
- Approved an additional $1,750 from the proceeds of the sale of the Camden and Delair Churches for St. Andrew's Church, Camden, to complete some of their work.
Report from the April 2008 Meeting of the Diocesan Council
At a meeting of the Diocesan Council on April 15, 2008, the Council:
- Welcomed members of the Class of 2011 and offered a brief orientation.
- Approved the grant from the Capital & Revolving Fund for San Jose, Elizabeth, in the amount of $10,000 for emergency roof repairs.
- Authorized Canon Powers to work with Greenfaith to pursue their purchase of the All Saints’, Highland Park, property.
- Authorized $7,000 of the $10,750 that was budgeted for St. Luke’s, Westville, to be given to St. Barnabas’, Villas, in the second half of 2008.
- Authorized an increase in St. Mark’s-at-the Crossing, Williamstown’s assistance from $10,000 to $22,000 this year, if St. Uriel’s, Sea Girt, approves the plan to make a three-year commitment.
- Approved the funding proposals for Church of the Epiphany, Ventnor, and St. Mary’s, Pleasantville, for 2008 from the St. James’ Fund. Requested that audits be required going forward.
- Made the following appointments for the 2008-2009 year:
- Visitation Committee Chair: Father Bruce Montgomery
- Recording Secretary: Mrs. Mary Ann Rhoads
- Corresponding Secretary: Mrs. Kathy O’Hagan
- Finance & Budget Committee: Chaplain Martha McKee and Mother Gina Walsh-Minor
- Board of Missions Representative: Father Arthur Powell
- Audit Committee Representatives: Mr. Ronald Sheay and Mr. Morris Anderson
Report from the February 2008 Meeting of the Diocesan Council
At a meeting of the Diocesan Council on February 19, 2008, the Council:
- Supported the statement of the Audit Committee.
- Authorized up to $4,100 from Grace Church, Elizabeth’s DIT account for an appraisal to be made for the possible sale of the church’s properties.
- Authorized $15,000 from Grace Church, Elizabeth’s DIT account to pay unpaid bills for Fr. Liz for the year 2007.
- Authorized up to $4,000 to have the building at All Saints’, Highland Park, appraised.
- Approved an increase in the amount given to St. Andrew’s, Camden, for building repairs from $41,213 to $42,243 from the proceeds of the sale of the Church of Our Saviour, Camden, and Holy Trinity, Delair.
- Approved the use of up to $22,000 from the proceeds of the sale of the Church of Our Saviour, Camden, and Holy Trinity, Delair, to assist St. Mark’s, Hammonton, in paying for the repairs needed for the rectory.
- Authorized the Church of the Ascension and St. Augustine’s Church to each receive $81,100 from the St. James’ Fund for the year 2008.
Report from the January 2008 Meeting of the Diocesan Council
At a meeting of the Diocesan Council on January 24, 2008, the Council:
- Approved the Proposed 2008 Budget for submission to the Diocesan Convention.
- Approved the Preliminary 2009 Budget for submission to the Diocesan Convention.
- Approved mission assistance for St. John’s, Fords, in the amount of $8,000 for 2008.
- Approved paying 2/3 of the cost of a building inspection at Epiphany, Ventnor.
