Questions that encourage discussion

This section contains questions that may be used as newsletter or bulletin items, starting points for discussion in Sunday School classes, or by clergy in preparing sermons. Consider other ways in which they might be useful to your church.

1. What prompted me to visit this congregation when looking for a church home?

2. Why did I become a member?

3. What is special about our congregation that would appeal to guests?

4. What would someone new to our congregation receive by becoming one of us?

5. What would our congregation gain by inviting friends to visit with us for worship and other activities?

6. Do we (do I) really want new people in our congregation?

7. Would our people welcome them?

You could share responses to these questions in a newsletter article. The overall purpose is to set the stage for inviting and welcoming others into your congregation.
